National Honor Society

National Honor Society is a national club, that promotes high standards of academic excellence, along with leadership, service and character.  Sophomores or Juniors with a gpa of 3.5 or above are eligible to be nominated to be members.  Once sworn in, students must attend monthly meetings, and perform 35 hours of community service.  NHS members are expected to be leaders toward the positive promotion of excellence in the aforementioned areas.  
NHS students receive certificates of membership, as well as their blue and gold chord for graduation.  NHS currently meets the third Monday, of every month.


  • New applicants must be current sophomores, or juniors.  
  • Applicants must currently have a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants must have completed a full semester at CHS prior to applying.
  • Applicants are accepted into NHS based on the above criteria and their essay.
  • Members are required to maintain a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (unweighted.)
  • Members are each required to participate in at least 35 hours of community service per year.
  • Members are required to attend monthly meetings.
